Turnaware Regatta

The sun came out for a lovely day at Turnaware Point for the Penryn Rowing Club Regatta last weekend. A cold north westerly wind made rowing conditions challenging. Clubs from around the county, including many juniors, competed in flash boats and skiffs throughout the afternoon.

Flash boats are traditional Cornish racing boats, based on a type of Tamar fishing boat and skiffs are racing versions of 15′ Oyster punts, which are still used on the river today and commonly seen at Turnaware Point through the Winter.
